Regarding certified pre-owned MINI vehicles that originally retailed on or after April 1, 2014, the MINI Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty is not transferable except within the authorized MINI dealer network or a private-to-private consumer transaction, at which point there's a $200 warranty transfer fee. Every car in MINI's Certified Pre-Owned program is thoroughly inspected and reconditioned where necessary by MINI-trained technicians using genuine MINI parts. To be eligible for MINI's Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program, a late-model vehicle must be under five years old and have no more than 60,000 miles on the odometer.

Inspection
MINI does not give a number regarding how many items are scrutinized (Audi, for example, states "300-plus"), but describes its process as "rigorous." An earlier version of MINI's CPO program made mention of a 181-point inspection, so it's reasonable to assume something similar or better for the current program. Some of the obvious areas are engine, brakes, steering system, suspension, wheels, tires, exterior panels and paintwork, cabin, electrics, heating and air conditioning. Every MINI vehicle has to be approved and signed off by a technician, service manager and MINI CPO manager.
