The Acura RSX Prototype made its public debut last Friday at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering – one of the world’s most prestigious car shows. The prototype of the all-electric new model, finished in striking “Propulsion Yellow Pearl,” took the spotlight at leading events throughout the Monterey Car Week.
The anticipated performance SUV plays a big role in the brand’s electrification strategy. It is the first in-house EV model produced at the Honda EV HUB in Ohio, using both domestic and internationally made parts. According to the Acura’s press release, more than 90% of its cars were manufactured in the U.S. in 2025.
The prototype offers a blend of a sporty coupe with the build of an SUV, creating a classic yet high-tech and assertive appearance. It features bold curves, door handles that sit flush and a ducktail rear spoiler that adds a sporty touch. The new model comes with a 21-inch rims, and the extended wheelbase gives the car a sleek and dynamic look. The brand name now appears in a new font across the tailgate.
"The dramatic styling of our Acura RSX Prototype demonstrates that it's not just a new EV, but a compelling all-new Acura model," said Lance Woelfer, vice president of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc., in a press release.
According to the Acura Creative Director Yasutake Tsuchida, the new RSX will reinvent the brand’s identity by combining timeless design with high-tech innovations.
The Acura RSX is projected to arrive later in 2026 and will introduce the ASIMO OS - an exclusive global operating system designed to understand the preferences and driving behavior of the owner for a more personalized experience.
Acura also announced that the next-generation model is designed to power a range of devices as well as support home back-up power, furthering the brand’s commitment to global carbon neutrality.
