Just like its name suggests, the Land Rover Defender was built to withstand whatever came its way. While this vehicle may not offer the luxury amenities and superior on-road sophistication of other SUVs bearing the Land Rover moniker, this rough and ready SUV excels by offering unmatched off-road capabilities. For a vehicle that was engineered to forge its own paths, few SUVs can compare to the Defender.
It is important to note that the Defender experienced little success in the U.S market, only selling a few thousand models from 1994-1997. It is possible, however, for the determined used car shopper to locate one of these beasts of the off-road. Used Land Rover Defender Model Years
1993 – The Land Rover Defender made its debut in the U.S in 1993, selling 500 units of the four-door Defender 100. In 1994, 1995 and 1997, the two-door Defender 90 was made available. While airbag requirements and subpar sales expectation forced Land Rover to stop selling the Defender in the United States, the SUV stills continues to see tremendous success in other parts of the world, even serving as the primary troop vehicle for British soldiers.
