Used Ford Mustang Major Redesigns

2005 – Paying homage to the classic style of the Mustangs from the 60s, this ninth generation model moved to an all new chassis, replacing the 25-year old 1970s Fox platform. Current Ford Mustangs come standard with a 3.7-liter V6 that produces 305 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.

1999 – The eighth generation model saw a redesign to the fenders and front and rear surfaces. The most significant advancement was an increase in horsepower in both the V6 and V8 models.

1994 – This model was designed with an eye toward affordability as well as style. To control costs, the new model was built atop the already existing 1970s Fox chassis.

1979 – This sixth generation model was notable for its departure from earlier features that had given the Mustang its distinct style.

1974 – Ford's fifth generation of the Mustang was a scaled back version of earlier models, in both power and size. Even with poor reviews, this model became one of the most popular selling Mustangs of all time.

1971 – The unsuccessful sales performance of this 1971 model eventually forced Ford to undertake a dramatic redesign.

1969 –The 1969 version included an increase in consumer options. There was now an array of exciting new models to choose from, including the Cobra Jet and the Boss 302.

1967 – In response to a new competitive marketplace, Ford redesigned the 1967 Mustang, making it larger and exaggerating style features.

1964 – Ford introduced the Mustang hoping to gain the attention of the coming-of-age baby boomer market. The car was marketed as a vehicle that was anything but ordinary.
