Oldsmobile has a long history as one of America's most respected luxury brands. Founded in 1898 by Ransom E. Olds, Oldsmobile quickly became the best-selling automaker in the United States. After Oldsmobile was sold to General Motors in 1908, it developed a reputation for sophisticated luxury vehicles that were constantly introducing new innovations to American consumers.
While Oldsmobile enjoyed great popularity through most of the 20th century, sales began to wane in the 1990s, despite innovations like the Guidestar, the first onboard GPS system. After a decade of poor sales, GM decided to discontinue the brand and the last Oldsmobile, an Alero, rolled off the assembly line in 2004. Used Oldsmobile continue to provide their owners with great long-term value.
