Land Rover is a British SUV manufacturer that introduced its vehicles shortly after World War II. The company was started by Spencer and Maurice Wilks, two brothers who wanted to build a vehicle that performed just as well over treacherous terrain as the American Jeep. While the first Land Rovers were built more for utility than comfort, the vehicles gradually became more consumer-focused, leading to the luxurious cabins they are known for today.
Land Rover was introduced to America in 1987, which happened to be the perfect time to take advantage of the booming SUV market of the 1990s. As more manufacturers started coming out with their own SUVs, Land Rover set itself apart from the crowd by improving both luxury features and performance.
